Aurora police found the body under an overpass crossing Toll Gate Creek near Potomac Street and Potomac Circle on April 1, according to a news release.

Officers first learned about the body when they responded to a fight near I-225 and Sixth Avenue, according to the release. The people involved in the fight told officers there were human remains under a nearby overpass north of the intersection.

The remains belong to an unidentified Black man in his 30s who was about 5-foot-5 and about 140 pounds, according to the Arapahoe County coroner’s office.

The man had short, curly black hair and was wearing a brown leather jacket, a fluorescent green sweatshirt, a gray-and-black hooded shirt, black sweatpants, camouflage shorts and light brown boots.

Police said the remains may belong to a man named Ben who frequented the East Colfax Avenue and I-225 corridors before his death. Aurora homicide detectives and the coroner’s office have not been able to positively ID the man, and no ID was found with the body.

It’s not clear how the man died.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office at 720-874-3625 or Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.

Aurora drive-by shooting started with illegal alcohol sale, police say https://www.denverpost.com/2025/04/14/aurora-shooting-north-glen-park-police/ Mon, 14 Apr 2025 23:58:16 +0000 https://www.denverpost.com/?p=7066842 A drive-by shooting near North Glen Park that sent three people to the hospital Saturday night started when the 18-year-old suspect tried to rob the victims during an illegal alcohol sale, according to an Aurora Police Department arrest affidavit.

Christopher Campos-Anguiano was arrested on suspicion of five counts of attempted second-degree murder and first-degree assault after police say he opened fire on a vehicle in the 15800 block of East 17th Place, injuring two adults and one child.

Aurora police responded to the area after one of the victims, a 34-year-old man, called 911 and said he had been shot.

The man was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was still hospitalized and listed in good condition as of Monday night, according to HCA HealthONE Aurora officials.

A 34-year-old woman was driving when the same bullet struck her in the side, and a 12-year-old girl was hit by projectiles during the shooting, police said. Both were discharged from the hospital. Two other children in the car were not injured.

Victims and witnesses gave differing accounts of what happened before the shooting, according to the arrest affidavit.

The woman and one of the juveniles told police they were at the park so the juvenile could meet up with someone. When the juvenile saw Campos-Anguiano had a gun, alcohol and marijuana, they became uncomfortable and decided to leave, which the victims said is when Campos-Anguiano followed and shot at them.

But a witness who was in the car with Campos-Anguiano told police they were at the park to buy alcohol from the victims, and after the victims handed over the bottles, Campos-Anguiano sped away before they were paid and the victims followed in their car.

Campos-Anguiano is in custody at the Arapahoe County Detention Center on a $250,000 bail and is set to appear in court Thursday.

1 dead, 1 injured in crash near the Denver-Aurora border https://www.denverpost.com/2025/04/14/fatal-crash-denver-aurora-police-speed-alcohol-central-park-montview/ Mon, 14 Apr 2025 13:50:32 +0000 https://www.denverpost.com/?p=7062805 A man died and a woman was injured in a single-vehicle crash near the border of Denver and Aurora early Sunday morning, police said.

The 20-year-old woman, who was driving the car, ran a red light at the intersection of Central Park Boulevard and Montview Boulevard at about 3:47 a.m., according to a news release from the Aurora Police Department.

After running the light, she drove off the left side of the road, spun out and struck a traffic control signal box head-on, police said in the release. The crash temporarily knocked out power to the traffic lights at the intersection.

Other drivers stopped to help and pulled the woman and her passenger, a 21-year-old man, from the crashed car, police said.

The man died from his injuries at the scene of the crash, police said. Paramedics took the woman to the hospital with “serious” injuries.

Police believe speed and alcohol were factors in the crash but said investigators are waiting on the results of the woman’s blood test.

This is Aurora’s ninth fatal crash of 2025, police said.

Two other children were also in the back seat of the car but were not injured in the shooting, according to a news release from the Aurora Police Department.

Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a sales meetup gone wrong, where the 18-year-old suspect took the items without paying and fled, the release stated.

Ralph Edward Bledsoe, 68, of Florissant was arrested Tuesday after traveling from Canada to an Aurora hotel where he planned to have sexual contact with a minor, police wrote in a social media post.

Bledsoe allegedly sent gifts that included lingerie and sex toys ahead of the meeting.

He has been charged with internet luring of a child and internet sexual exploitation of a child, according to court records, though Lt. Seth Robertson said in the post that police are still investigating whether Bledsoe’s job allowed him to abuse minors in other jurisdictions before he was caught.

“His arrest does not mean this investigation is over,” Robertson said. “Our detectives are working diligently with local, state and federal partners throughout the country to try to identify additional victims and to ensure they receive the justice they deserve.”

Gregory Thomas Daniels, 39, of Aurora was also arrested April 2 after arranging to meet and have sexual contact with a child. He has been charged with internet luring of a child and resisting arrest.

Both men were being held at the Arapahoe County Detention Facility as of Saturday.

Aurora police conducted the sting operation with the help of the Department of Homeland Security, Boulder County District Attorney’s Office and Colorado Bureau of Investigation.

Group accused in burglaries of 21 Aurora homes charged with attempted burglary, conspiracy https://www.denverpost.com/2025/04/02/aurora-burglaries-charges-wi-fi-jammers/ Wed, 02 Apr 2025 21:13:58 +0000 https://www.denverpost.com/?p=7017298 Five people suspected of burglarizing 21 homes in Aurora have been formally charged by the Arapahoe County District Court.

The suspects, all Colombian nationals, each were charged with criminal attempt to commit second-degree burglary and conspiracy to commit second-degree burglary, but the charges still could be changed or modified, Eric Ross, spokesperson for the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s office, said.

They are being held in an Immigrant and Customs Enforcement detention facility.

The suspects are accused of robbing 21 Aurora homes by placing cameras around victims’ houses and trackers in their cars, following and watching them, and then using WiFi signal jamming technology to bypass alarm systems, according to Joe Moylan, Aurora police spokesperson.

The Aurora Police Department led an operation with Douglas and Arapahoe counties to arrest the crew March 27, where they served search and arrest warrants in central Aurora in the 1400 block of Fairplay Street and the 1400 block of Altura Boulevard. Officials said that during the investigation, they recovered stolen weapons, including handguns and rifles, as well as cash, jewelry, high-priced clothing and accessories.

Police arrest “highly sophisticated crew” suspected of 21 Aurora home burglaries https://www.denverpost.com/2025/04/01/aurora-home-burglaries-crew-arrested-wifi-jammers/ Tue, 01 Apr 2025 22:44:41 +0000 https://www.denverpost.com/?p=7014456 Law enforcement officials arrested five suspects last week in the burglaries of 21 homes in Aurora, police announced Tuesday.

The suspects, all identified as Colombian nationals, were part of a “highly sophisticated crew” that over the last year surveilled potential victims and used WiFi jammers to bypass home alarm systems, the Aurora Police Department said in a social media post.

The suspects targeted their victims by following and watching them, putting trackers on their vehicles and placing cameras around their homes to see when they would leave, said Joe Moylan, Aurora police spokesman.

“The suspects went to the great lengths… to ensure they were burglarizing homes when no one was home,” Moylan said in an email.

Moylan said the suspects are in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, though he does expect state charges to be filed by the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

The suspects were arrested on felony charges of attempted second-degree burglary or conspiracy to commit second-degree burglary, according to the post.

The Aurora Police Department led the multi-agency operation to arrest the crew on Thursday. Police and officials from the Arapahoe and Douglas county sheriff’s offices served search and arrest warrants in central Aurora in the 1400 block of Fairplay Street and the 1400 block of Altura Boulevard.

During the operation, officials said they recovered stolen weapons, including handguns and rifles, as well as cash, jewelry, high-priced clothing and accessories.

The investigation also involved the Department of Homeland Security and the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office’s Organized Crime Unit.

The burglaries are still under investigation, and people can contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 with any information.
