One person died and another three were injured in a multi-vehicle crash in Commerce City on Tuesday, police said.

The Commerce City Police Department first posted about the crash on social media at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday. It happened on eastbound Interstate 270 near where the highway intersects with U.S. 6, police said.

It’s unclear how many cars were involved or what caused the crash.

One person died in the crash, police said in a Wednesday morning update. Paramedics took three others to the hospital, one with serious injuries.

The crash shut down eastbound I-270 for multiple hours for the crash cleanup and investigation, but the interstate had fully reopened Wednesday morning.

This is a developing story and may be updated.
